OBJECTIVE Translation and validation of the "Sexting Motivation Questionnaire" in Greek.

METHOD A cross-sectional study was conducted with 368 young adults aged 18–30 years. Data collection was performed during September 2022 and the study sample was a convenience one. We applied the "forward-backward" method for the translation of the questionnaire. To estimate reliability, we applied the test-retest method and calculated Cronbach's alpha coefficient. In addition, we conducted exploratory and confirmatory factor analysis to estimate validity.

RESULTS Spearman's correlation coefficient in all items of the questionnaire was >0.6 (p<0.05), indicating excellent reliability of the questionnaire. Factor analysis confirmed the three factors of the "Sexting Motivation Questionnaire": "sexual intention", "attractive to others", and "personal benefit". Cronbach's alpha coefficient for the questionnaire was 0.96, while for the factors "sexual intention", "attractive to others", and "personal benefit" was 0.89, 0.93, and 0.71, respectively, indicating excellent reliability of the questionnaire.

CONCLUSIONS "Sexting Motivation Questionnaire" is proven to be a reliable and valid instrument to assess sexting among young adults in Greece.
